How to Choose A Doctor

  • "You get what you pay for"
  • Ask about your providers qualifications
  • Questions to Ask Your Doctor
  • About your doctor
  • About your procedure
  • Tattoo removal is highly dependent on the skill and ability of the practitioner. It is also critical that the provider have access to a variety of lasers with varying wavelengths as different colored tattoos respond to certain wavelengths. The rule with laser surgery is truly “you get what you pay for”. If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Consult with a physician—not with the person who gave you your tattoo—about getting your tattoo removed. Find one who has had significant experience using lasers to remove tattoos.

    Questions to Ask Your Doctor

The following are some suggested questions you can ask your doctor to learn more about tattoo removal and the practice:

    • Do you own your lasers?
    • Do you have before-and-after photographs of treatments you’ve performed?
    • Do you have any patient testimonials?
    • What are you board-certified in?

    About your procedure:

    • How many laser treatments will be necessary to remove my tattoo?
